Chunky Tomato Salsa

This is the standard, and favorite, at the Hakes’ House. Enjoy!

Chunky Tomato Salsa

4 lbs vine-ripened red tomatoes (about 5 medium), diced
1/2 medium red onion, diced
1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
2 Serrano or Jalapeno peppers, seeded and diced
2 garlic cloves, minced
pinch sugar (if necessary to balance the acidity of the tomatoes)
3 juice of lime
Tabasco to taste (optional)
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1. Combine all of the ingredients in a mixing bowl and toss well. Season with salt and pepper.
2. Allow the salsa to sit for 15 minutes before serving
